The Kavanaugh hearing on Thursday made me really angry. I believe Dr Ford. But even if I didn't believe her, I was so deeply unimpressed by Brett Kavanaugh that I was actually offended. For someone who expects to become a Supreme Court Justice, (that expectation is a problem in and of itself), he exhibited absolutely no magnanimity, no sense of the greater good, no ability to comprehend social complexity. He was defensive, little, self-centered, arrogant. The repeated refrain in his remarks, "Thanks to what you ... have unleashed," followed by some perceived HELL that had been inflicted upon him and his family was so privileged and narrow minded that I nearly threw up. This man, incapable of seeing the bigger picture and thinking beyond the ways he believes he was wronged, regardless of his guilt, is not worthy of the Supreme Court by virtue of his behavior on Thursday.
As an aside, I'm reading another book about teams, because teams are my new favorite topic. The premise of the of the book is that you can turn around any toxic team by applying five basic principles.
I really like these. In practice, I've got the first 3 down pretty well, but I'm still working on the 4th and 5th point. I wrote them all on a post-it and put them on the back of my phone case, in case I need any help remembering.
