The Honorable Thing To Do

Lest we live in a time when holding the title Honorable doesn't mean you are.

During that time of my life, the things I did and the choices I made were not worthy of the man I would become. As I said, I do not remember the event.

However, at this time in our country, I believe it is of utmost importance to listen to the voices of the people. We need unity and patience and respect.  We need to put the interests of the country ahead of our own.

In the wake of #metoo,

In the midst of some of the most divisive politics this country has ever experienced,

In honor of many voices that will never be heard,

As an example to the people across this country who live in fear because they believe that power makes one immune and indifferent to the rules,

And as an example to the people who fear that power makes one deaf to the pleas of those without power,

I nearby withdraw my nomination.
